♦ Just a very quick update. I did see I'll Follow You Down and really enjoyed it. There is, of course, not quite enough of Rufus, but he's wonderful in his role. I've put up a page for the film here. There are a few reviews, basically by Fantasia geeks. Hopefully this will get a wider release!

♦ So, I've made it back in under a month... The big news - for me - is that I will be seeing I'll Follow You Down on Sunday! A couple of updates back I made a comment about the Fantasia Festival, thinking it might be a venue for an early showing of Where the Devil Hides. My daughter, the multi-year purveyor of the music before and between screenings at the festival, has a dream of wowing me with tickets to a Fantasia premiere of a Rufus film with Himself in attendance (given that he does seem to get parts in genre pix). It's not a premiere with Rufus in attendance, but it is a premiere, and it's earlier than 2014. I'll Follow You Down is at Fantasia, and I am wowed by getting a ticket. I will report (hoping I don't have to watch it with my hands in front of my eyes, hahahaha). You can read the description of the film here. (I will get a page together soonish I hope.)

♦ YIKES. Times flies, etc. I am not literally dead, just a bit killed by lots of work, and have not forgotten Rufus, who is either currently filming Hercules or maybe has just finished in Hungary. There haven't been any official photos yet (though a few with lucky fans on Twitter and Tumblr which you can see at the The Rooftop).
Meanwhile, the newest title for The Occult, a.k.a. Devil's Rapture, is Where the Devil Hides. Presumably this is a three times lucky thing and this will be the one. You can read a short article here.
The Sea was shown at the Edinburgh Film Festival and you can read an early review here.

♦ A few new things.... There are a bunch of reviews related to All Things To All Men and you can read them here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. There is also a new video interview. There is quite a lot of repetition, but hey, it never really gets old.

So, that film - in which Rufus has a role - called The Occult, and then later Devil's Rapture, has now been renamed Where the Devil Hides. It may be cursed... Also, last word was it would open on Halloween 2013, but now it's booked in for 11 October. Maybe not scary enough... This news has been reported by DreadCentral.com, ShockTillYouDrop.com, TrulyDisturbing.com, Demonbuster.com, and BloodyDisgusting.com, among others - it's a whole new world... I need to get out more and take up my kid's invitation to the Fantasia Festival she deejays and lives at each year ... (or maybe not...). Anyway, you can read a blurb about the name change from the milder-titled Joblo.com site (click on the site link to see the poster image).
And the photo finish is Rufus caught at the Los Angeles airport, looking, despite his protests in interviews, somewhat rakish.

♦ Greetings Roofers! I had the great good luck to see Old Times a couple of times in mid-March. It's wonderful that the play has been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Revival, and that Kristen Scott Thomas has been nominated for the Best Actress Award, but.... Roof wuz robbed!! However, on the extremely speculative bright side, Broadway.com threw out this little teaser:
ALSO: A veritable Easter parade of closings between April 4 and April 6: The Captain of Kopenick at the National, Iain Glen in Longing at the Hampstead, Rupert Everett in The Judas Kiss at the Duke of York’s; and Rufus Sewell, Lia Williams and Kristin Scott Thomas in Old Times at the Harold Pinter. (Rumor has it that Pinter’s ever-elusive memory play may resurface at New York City’s BAM.)
Fingers crossed everywhere!
Old Times is ending but All Things To All Men is opening in London on 5 April. There is now a dedicated page on this site. You can read articles promoting the film featuring interviews with Rufus here and here. There is a fun video interview here, and I have put up some stills from the film here.

The other news is a new film and a radio play. The film is Hercules: The Thracian Wars and you can read an announcement article here. The article gives the release date as 25 July 2014, but other announcements put the date as 8 August 2014. Far-ish away, but the actual "actor filming" is starting quite soon.
The radio play is Dark Side, inspired by Pink Floyd's album Dark Side of the Moon and celebrating its 40th anniversary. It will air on 26 August 2013. Read an article and see a photo.

A few other articles include news: this short article lets us know that the film formerly known as The Occult is now named Devil's Rapture and will open on 11 October 2013. [There's a slight parallel to another renaming in Rufus' film career: 'The Courtesan' became 'Dangerous Beauty'. One of my preferred Roof quotes relates to the name change: "...the film's title was changed from "The Courtesan" after 95 percent of the people in preview audiences said they didn't know what a "courtesan" was (about half confused it with "cortisone")..."What if the 'stupids' honestly don't know what a courtesan is? What's wrong with that?" Mr. Sewell said. "You could learn a word."" LOL! I've added the original article to the Reading Room.]
