Amazon Announces Preview Weekend for 'The Man in the High Castle'
AmazonAdvisor.com, 21 October 2015 Amazon has announced the first “Preview Weekend” for one of their Amazon originals. According to a PR representative for Amazon who reached out to Amazon Adviser, Amazon will allow anyone, even those without an Amazon Prime subscription, to watch episodes of the upcoming Amazon original series 'The Man in the High Castle' nearly a month of ahead of the full season one release on November 20. Starting at 12 am PST on Friday, October 23. and ending at 11:59 pm PST on Sunday, October 25, in the US and UK, you can watch the first two episodes of 'The Man in the High Castle' on Amazon Prime Video, even if you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription. In addition, Amazon is also making the pilot episode available on IGN, CraveOnline, and nearly all of Amazon’s Facebook pages. For those who don’t know, 'The Man in the High Castle' is based on Philip K. Dick’s novel of the same name. “'The Man in the High Castle' explores what would have happened if the Allied Powers had lost World War II,” according to the press release. The series was adapted by Frank Spotnitz and stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel de la Fuente, Rufus Sewell, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Arnold Chun, Carsten Norgaard, and Lee Shorten. As mentioned, this is the first time Amazon has ever done a “preview weekend,” so there’s really no precedent for what to expect. However, based on the shows hitting other streaming services late in November, like Marvel’s 'Jessica Jones' on Netflix, it seems like a good idea for Amazon to try to get a jump on the competition. The public has already had the opportunity to watch the pilot of 'The Man in the High Castle', as it was part of Amazon’s program that test pilots on the site to gauge interest and reaction. Obviously, the pilot was deemed worthy of a series order. Remember, you can catch the first two episodes of 'The Man in the High Castle' on Amazon Video this weekend from 12am PST on Friday, October 23, to 11:59 pm PST on Sunday, October 25.
